Australian Adoptee Rights Action Group

This is not an adoptee support group but an adoptee rights group. Formed in 2012, we fight for equal rights for adoptees in law and policy and extend our support to the donor-conceived and people born from surrogacy who fight for their rights. We stand for family preservation and child welfare and adhere fully to the principles laid down in the United Nations Convention on the Right of the Child. Some areas of our activism include the ending of an imposed and false identity by the issue of replacement birth certificates, the right to cancel our adoptions without undue difficulty for those adoptees who wish to do so, and the abolition of all laws such as vetoes or contact statements that seek to control the lives and behaviour of adoptees. Also of interest is the right to be included on parent's death certificates so our descendants can trace their ancestry, a right of access to Family Provision legislation if we are destitute or in need, and the remarkable question of our disinheritance. We object to the complete absence of any kind of monitoring of child welfare after adoption, the advertising of children for adoption in newspapers and on the internet, and the payment of adoption organisations and adopters. We work to equalise the status of adoptees. Some adoptees in other countries already have these equal rights. Please support the cause!
