The Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) was asked to inquire into surrogacy laws.
Adoptee Rights Australia Inc. identified several crossover issues between adopted persons and those born through surrogacy arrangements.
In the submission, ARA Inc. spoke of:

- Right to Information – How should this be provided or facilitated?
- Additional Issue 1: Centring the Rights of the Child then Adult
- Additional Issue 2: Need for Research, Awareness and Public Education

- Additional Issue 4: Discharge Rights in Surrogacy Arrangements

UPDATE:
ARA Inc. received a perfunctory response to the 16-page Issues Paper that was submitted. Disappointingly, none of the substantive issues that were raised in our Issues Paper were addressed in the Australian Law Reform Commission’s Discussion Paper. The issues we raised included fundamental human rights principles and the lifelong legal and identity consequences for children-then-adults created through surrogacy.
